SFNM Youth and Adult Education

Our youth and adult education initiatives serve to fulfill our mission: through concerts, commissions, and educational events, SFNM promotes understanding of, enthusiasm for, and participation in the music of our time—serving as an advocate for new classical music and its future.

Youth Programs

  • In 2008-2009 SFNM launches a large-scale community youth opera project with the production of extraordinary 2008-2009 Youth Opera Project, The Language of Birds
  • As part of our commitment to building new audiences for new music, we have, since 2001, administered The New Mexico Young Composers' Project, a free-of-charge, statewide competion for youth 18 and under.

Adult Learning

  • Read about every composer we've presented in our first seven seasons!
  • Our many concerts are accompanied by informative notes about the composers and musicians in 20th and 21st Century music. Please viist our archives to access them.
